At 22:00 local time on March 23, Gas Turbine Unit 2 of the Syrdarya II 1,600 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project in Uzbekistan, contracted by Harbin Electric International (HEI), was successfully fired up for the first time. The milestone marks another stage victory in the construction of what is currently the largest combined cycle power plant under construction in Central Asia, and stands as one of the key achievements in HEI’s strong start to the first quarter of the year.

Since construction commenced, the Syrdarya II project team has actively confronted three core challenges: a tight construction schedule, lengthy equipment transportation lead times, and demanding management requirements. Firmly implementing Harbin Electric Corporation’s directive to “honor commitments on international projects,” the team has leveraged HEI’s comprehensive capabilities as a general contractor for large-scale overseas combined cycle power plants—applying rigorous construction sequencing, coordinating resources across multiple fronts, and overcoming a series of risks and challenges—powerfully demonstrating the leading role of Harbin Electric Corporation as the “national team” of China's equipment manufacturing sector.

Looking ahead, the Syrdarya II project team will seize the momentum of this successful first ignition to press forward with unit commissioning, working with full commitment to bring the project to a high-quality close. Through exemplary engineering and green technology, the team will further elevate the international standing of the HEI brand—and let the light of clean energy illuminate countless homes along the banks of the Syrdarya River.
