The Nairyah 2 project of Harbin Electric International (HEI) is located in a typical inland desert climate zone characterized by harsh natural conditions—extreme heat, persistent drought, and frequent sandstorms year-round. Confronted with the vast, barren desert landscape surrounding the site, the Nairyah 2 project team recognized that creating a healthy, comfortable, and livable working and living environment for the more than one thousand employees from around the world was not only a prerequisite for smooth project delivery, but also a core expression of the company's people-first philosophy and commitment to employee well-being. To this end, the project team went beyond the scope of the owner's contract, investing approximately RMB 50,000 to carry out a greening initiative across the camp and office areas— transforming the site into a verdant oasis, and making it a tangible embodiment of HEI's commitment to green and sustainable development.

Guided by the principle of adapting to local conditions, the project team carefully selected drought-resistant, heat-tolerant, and hardy native plant species for cultivation. By January 2026, the greening initiative had yielded remarkable results, with more than 140 trees of various species successfully planted across the camp and office areas. This swath of greenery, brought to life in the middle of the desert, has meaningfully improved the environmental quality of the camp and office areas, eased the stress felt by employees working in demanding conditions, and enhanced their overall quality of life and sense of well-being. To extend the green vision further, the project team also actively coordinated with the owner to participate jointly in tree-planting activities, transforming what began as a unilateral construction initiative into a shared environmental effort—earning high praise from the owner in the process.

The project team also organized a potted plant distribution activity, gifting small potted plants to both employees and the owner's representatives to encourage a greener way of life. Beyond brightening personal spaces, the initiative subtly cultivated environmental awareness across the entire workforce and strengthened team cohesion.
