Safety is an unwavering core value at Harbin Electric International (HEI). In November 2025, a road traffic accident occurred on Highway 6465—the very road that project employees travel daily for their commute and that serves as the main route for transporting materials to and from the site. The incident put the Nairyah 2 project team on high alert, reinforcing the conviction that the responsibility for safety should not end at the project gate, and that the team has an obligation to contribute to improving road safety conditions in the surrounding area.
In response, project team members proactively visited the Nairyah municipal government and local traffic management authorities, initiating discussions on road conditions and expressing a willingness to work alongside local government to improve safety along the affected stretch. During the meetings, the team conveyed a strong desire for collaboration and pledged partial financial support for improvement works. The local traffic authorities responded with full appreciation for HEI's proactive initiative, noting that by actively engaging with the local community while delivering a high-quality project, HEI had demonstrated the depth of responsibility and four decades of accumulated expertise that define the company—an engagement that would further strengthen HEI’s positive presence and influence in the region.

Following consultations and an on-site survey, the traffic authorities decided to install additional speed cameras along the highway, while the project team invested approximately RMB 20,000 to erect multiple traffic safety warning signs along the road corridor—particularly at the project entrance and exit and in accident-prone areas such as adjacent bends and gradients. These measures have effectively improved traffic conditions along the stretch, with vehicle speeds brought under effective control.
These actions represent far more than a response to a single incident—they are a vivid demonstration of HEI’s “shared safety” philosophy in practice. Going beyond its contractual obligations, HEI proactively extended its professional safety management expertise into the public domain, delivering tangible protection for all road users, including project employees, passing traffic, and local residents alike. The initiative has earned widespread commendation from local government and the community, significantly enhancing recognition of and goodwill toward the HEI brand in the Saudi market.
