On March 25 and 28 local time in Saudi Arabia, the first steel structure lifts for the heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) at the Nairyah 2 and Rumah 2 projects—both contracted to Harbin Electric International (HEI)—were successfully completed. The milestone marks the formal entry of the HRSG areas at both projects into the intensive equipment installation phase, laying a solid foundation for the orderly advancement of subsequent construction work.

The HRSG bypass system is a critical core component of the HRSG system, serving the vital function of connecting the HRSG to the gas turbine. Its installation quality directly affects the safety, operational flexibility, and stability of the generating unit. Under special operating conditions, including unit start-up and shutdown, load adjustments, and fault handling, the bypass system enables smooth switching between simple-cycle and combined-cycle modes, effectively ensuring efficient and stable unit operation. It is therefore a key supporting element of the overall project.

To ensure the first lift was executed without a hitch, the Nairyah 2 and Rumah 2 project teams planned well in advance and deployed comprehensive preparations across all fronts. The project teams repeatedly refined their construction plans based on actual site conditions, elaborating the technical measures for critical steps, including lifting sequences and equipment positioning, to ensure the plans were technically sound, precise, and efficient. The safety management teams conducted thorough safety risk inspections and rectifications, strengthened on-site safety protection facilities, and eliminated all identified hazards. Dedicated safety and technical briefings were also conducted for all operating personnel, ensuring that every team member was fully proficient in operational procedures and strictly adhered to safety protocols. On the day of the lift, personnel across all stations worked in close coordination, with the lifted components rising smoothly and landing in precise position.

The successful completion of the first HRSG steel structure lift has not only set a strong foundation for the subsequent bypass system installation and overall HRSG erection work, but has also greatly boosted the morale of the project teams. Going forward, the Nairyah 2 and Rumah 2 project teams will continue to uphold their commitment to safety and quality, strengthen process control, and steadily advance the remaining equipment installation work—giving their utmost to ensure the project is delivered on schedule and to the highest quality standards.
